International Society of Automation, Lafayette Section

The ISA (International Society of Automation) was founded in 1945 and is a leading, global, nonprofit organization with a membership of over 40,000 with 160 sections. The ISA develops standards, certifies industry professionals, provides educational training, publishes books and technical articles, and hosts the largest conference and exhibition for automation professionals in the Western Hemisphere.

The ISA Lafayette Section was chartered in 1981. Our membership comes primarily from the upstream oil and gas industry. Our instrumentation and controls professionals are known worldwide as the pioneers and experts in the application of technology associated with processes in the oil patch. The Acadiana area is considered the "Center of Excellence" for experienced instrumentation and control system designers, engineers, programmers, project managers and technicians. These individuals, along with service providers and vendors, provide the bulk of our membership.

Each year the Lafayette Section has grown stronger and currently we have a base membership of over 200. Our Luncheon meetings offer a variety of technical presentations as well as an opportunity to network with industry professionals. During our meetings 5-6 of our section sponsors are invited and given the opportunity to exhibit at our Mini Table Top. We work closely with the University of Louisiana Lafayette offering support to the Engineering Department Project Teams, as well as, three local high schools "FIRST Robotics Challenge" Teams.

The Lafayette Section supports the goals of the ISA in connecting people and ideas in automation and systems. We have been recognized nationally as a section of growth and leadership in the ISA. You are welcome to Contact Us for more information on how you can be a part of this dynamic group.
